Who We Are

We are a creative partnership. One of us writes. One of us designs. One of us strategizes. All of us art direct, edit, and critique. Each of us loves what we do. We love a challenge, from making widgets sexy to facing a corporate crisis and guiding a company’s leaders and employees out the other side, to making magic out of molehills to winning the deal.

Philosophy

We refuse to turn nothing into something. We are about substance and honesty, from an unusual angle to be sure, but we won’t lie for you. So please don’t lie to us. You can be vague and we’ll help you get specific, you can have ideas all over the map and we’ll help you focus and find your place.

We come from the worlds of architecture, commercial real estate, finance, and medicine, from stints in the corporate arena and at agencies, from free-lancing to building our own companies, to joining forces to make Hawkhill & Maxim Creative Communications.

How We Got Here

We are entrepreneurs and creative spirits. We got tired of in-house corporate restraints, turf wars, and political in-fighting. We refuse to settle for low standards, bad spelling, poor grammar, and ugliness. We are risk takers as much as we are pragmatists: we are here to earn a living and help you earn a better one.

Educated with advanced degrees in studio art, art history, architecture, and creative writing, Elizabeth has won numerous awards for business writing and literature, most notably the Walt McDonald First-book Award for her poetry book, Leap. She founded Hawkhill & Maxim Corporate Communications in 1990, serving the development, architecture, commercial real estate, legal, and financial services industries, as well as non-profit organizations dedicated to improving educational opportunities for children. She has three grown children and resides in New York City.

Educated with advanced degrees in finance and economics, with experience inside global investment houses, Rebecca handles a corporate agenda with aplomb—though the fashion and beauty industries are what intrigue and inspire her creative spirit. She is a skilled marketing and brand strategist. As an American living in the UK for over 15 years, she no longer has use for a zed. She lives in London with her husband and children.
